Last Chance at The Classic and The Wilderness This Weekend
Posted by Ed Heil on Friday Oct 7, 2011 Under Brainerd Lakes Golf, Golf in Northeast MinnesotaAfter this weekend, The Classic at Madden’s and The Wilderness at Fortune Bay will close for the season. If you want to get out and experience some of the best golf in the state at the best time of year, this is your chance. If you’re heading up to Madden’s, you can still get out on Pine Beach East after this weekend, but the crown jewel shuts down at the end of the day, Sunday.
Earlier this week I was at The Wilderness at Fortune Bay and it’s in perfect condition. The greens are fast and firm and the fairways are lush. About 40% of the leaves are down, but there are still some terrific colors in the trees. When heading towards Tower, you also have to swing by Giants Ridge in Biwabik, which I did as well. Both the Legend and The Quarry are in fabulous condition. John Kendall, the Director of Golf, tells me they won’t close their courses until mid month.
Scary thought, but time is running out on the season – so get out and tee it up!
